Obstetrics & Gynecology
Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) physicians specialize in women’s healthcare. They diagnose and treat disorders of the female reproductive system as well as monitor the care of pregnant women and perform the delivery when the time comes.
In addition to pregnancy and childbirth services, Lakewood Hospital offers the following women’s healthcare services.
A mammogram is an X-ray exam of the breast used to detect and evaluate breast abnormalities, both in women with no breast complaints or symptoms and in women with symptoms, such as a lump, pain or nipple discharge.
The American Cancer Society recommends having yearly mammograms beginning at age 40. If you are under age 40 and have a family history of breast cancer or other concerns, discuss with your physician as to when you should begin having mammograms.
Mammography screenings are available at the Lakewood Hospital Community Health Center, 1450 Belle Ave., 3rd Floor, Lakewood. To schedule an appointment, call 216.521.6700.
Hormonal Concerns, Menstrual Problems & Menopause»
Just as the menstrual cycle is not the same for every woman, menopause affects each woman differently. This hormonal transition can be eased through education and preventive measures.
Many of our gynecologists and certified nurse-midwives specialize in managing menopause.
Osteoporosis—the excessive loss of bone material—afflicts 28 million Americans, 80% of whom are women. Diagnostic screenings, such as bone densitometry, can measure bone mineral density and assess your level of risk.
