Clinical Rotations
Our residents receive comprehensive clinical training that includes rotations in hospital medicine, intensive care unit, cardiac care unit, night float, cardiology, continuity clinic, and various elective rotations. The rotations are organized in 2-week blocks and aim to incorporate continuity clinic in an 8 plus 2 model. Our dedicated teaching faculty at Fairview Hospital and Cleveland Clinic provide excellent guidance to our residents during their rotations.

Elective Rotations
Elective rotations are a significant part of our program's second and third years of training. These are available in all of the different disciplines of Internal Medicine as well as in other related specialties. Our elective rotations add to the skills of the future internist or prepare the resident to an excellent start if a career in an Internal Medicine subspecialty is pursued.

Didactics and Conference Schedules
Morning Report
Morning Reports are conducted Monday through Friday at 7 a.m. for Hospital Medicine Teams, Hospital Medicine Night Float Teams and Rapid Response Team. Generally, admissions are discussed, identifying problems, discussing appropriate plan for investigation and therapy, high-level evidence-based case discussions along with fun filled medical jeopardy and challenging board review sessions.
Rapid Response Team Presentation
The rapid response team presents once a month. This is an interesting case encountered while on the rapid response rotation and addresses medical knowledge and system-based competencies.
Internal Medicine Didactic Conferences
Hospital Medicine Didactic Conferences are held on every Wednesday at noon for Hospital Medicine Teams.
Grand Rounds
Medicine Grand Rounds are held on Thursdays. These are high-level presentations by speakers from our own faculty as well as individuals who are well recognized locally and nationally.
Medical Management Conferences
Medical Management Conferences are held on Friday's at noon. Residents discuss interesting cases and their evidence-based management seen during their various rotations. The resident will be working with a mentor from the teaching faculty to help prepare.

Mentorship
When residents joint our program, each intern will be assigned an advisor to help them navigate their internship. Going to second and third year, each resident will chose a mentor from a dedicated mentor pool that will help with career forming and decisions.

Hello, prospective mentees!
I am a cardiologist at Fairview, and I am looking forward to working with you on your career goals. My professional interests after training are fairly broad---I enjoy looking after the spectrum of preventive cardiology through complex CAD, I like heart failure and shock, I enjoy cardiac problems during pregnancy, I enjoy the diagnostic potential of cardiac imaging, and I like arrhythmias. Although, I do think someone really ought to find a durable cure for A.fib. We would all be better off without A.fib (at least in our dreams). I especially enjoy cases in which cardiac pathology affects multisystem disease processes--these cases allow ongoing learning and insight into other specialties. For those of you considering a cardiology-related specialty, I hope I will be able to help you!

Amy O’Linn DO SFHM FACP has served patients as a Cleveland Clinic hospitalist physician for 14 years in the Cleveland Clinic system, and has had numerous leadership roles, including President of the Lake Erie Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine (2011-2014); Site director for hospital medicine at Fairview hospital (2013-2018); and Regional Hospital Medicine Quality Improvement Officer (2018-Present).As physician lead for Enterprise Readmission Reduction since 2018, Dr. O’Linn has led numerous efforts to assure patients a durable discharge, including operationalizing the Discharge Medication Reconciliation hard stop for roughly 170,000 patients across the Enterprise annually (2018/2019); improving the communication from hospital to skilled nursing facility with the Dr. Connect enhancements (2019); expanding the Individualized Care Plan work from a local effort to Enterprise-wise in 2020; and finally leading the Readmission Reduction Team of Teams in 2021. Dr. O’Linn is passionate about maintaining the safety and quality of the hospital experience for our patients and giving patients the best chance at a durable hospital discharge. In addition to her Quality work, Dr. O’Linn serves her peers as an Advanced Peer Coach and has been trained in the Cleveland Clinic’s Emerge Stronger program. Dr. O’Linn currently serves as co-chair for National Quality Forum Admissions and Readmissions committee, which influences decision-making on a national scale.
