Community Relationships

The Volunteer & Auxiliary Resources Department works very closely with different organizations throughout the west side including schools, churches, senior centers and other individual craft groups.

In 2010, our Junior Volunteer Program had 426 volunteers from several different schools. Some of these schools have organized programs for students to gain life long experiences through volunteering in their community.

North Olmsted High School has a S.I.T.E.S Program (Social Involvement Through Education and Services) designed for students who voluntarily join this group. The students are released from school for a few hours to go work at different organizations. The Volunteer Department has had a wonderful experience working with the S.I.T.E.S students over the years, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with North Olmsted High School.

Magnificat High School has two programs that Fairview Hospital works closely with including a Sophomore Service where students are required to complete 20 hours of volunteering at an organization in the community. They also have a Genesis Program for senior students. This Senior Project is for students who have an idea of the career field they would like to pursue. With help from our Nursing Department, students interested in medicine come to Fairview Hospital where they can shadow nurses in all different areas of the hospital for two weeks.

St. Joseph Academy has two programs for their Sophomores and Seniors where they are to complete a certain amount of hours of volunteering at a community organization throughout the year to graduate.

We also see many other students from many other schools such as Rocky River, Bay Village, Fairview Park, John Marshall, Lutheran West, Westlake and Lakewood High Schools.

The Volunteer Department has many different community organizations that make monthly donations to our patients in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit, Pediatrics, Pediatric ER and various others.

Thank you to all the different organizations throughout the communities including, Faith Hope & Charity Stitches, Inc., Piece-makers - Fairview Grace United Methodist Church, Westlake United Methodist Church, West Park United Church of Christ, Rocky River Senior Center, Village 100, Telecom Pioneers, Lakewood Department of Aging, Victoria Plaza, John Knox Church, The Normandy Group, Dover Congregational United Church of Christ and Avon Senior Center.

We enjoy working with all of these different community organizations, and will continue to work closely with them for many more years to come.
