Cardiac Testing

The procedures performed use advanced electronic equipment that allows physicians to assess the cardiovascular system's structure and function, including:

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our cardiac rehabilitation offers a program that can greatly improve the quality of your life. If you have heart disease or are at risk for heart disease, your physician may suggest this program. Our team of trained professionals is eager to get you enrolled and help you develop a heart-healthy lifestyle. Through this comprehensive outpatient program of supervised exercise and education, our heart patients can recover faster, reduce their symptoms and lower the risk of future heart problems.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program following a cardiac event designed to help you maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle. Trained professionals work as a team to identify your individual needs and help patients modify their risk factors. Proper diet and exercise are the first steps in preventing the re-occurrence of heart disease. Our staff will help you cope with heart disease (the fears and anxieties) as you return to an active lifestyle.

Individuals interested in the program must have a physician referral and be followed by a cardiologist on the Medina Hospital Medical Staff. For more information about the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Medina Hospital ask your physician call 330.721.5313.

Cardiac/Peripheral Vascular Lab

Our digital catheterization laboratory provides clearer and faster diagnostic imaging. The enhanced digital technology provides superior image accuracy while optimizing patient safety and comfort. The sophisticated equipment allows physicians to detect even the tiniest blockages. In addition, patients benefit from convenient scheduling and personalized care with doctors they know.

The Cardiac/Peripheral Vascular Lab provides world-class cardiac care to Medina-area residents. It is part of Medina Hospital’s initiative to provide the very best care for patients and is the first phase in the Hospital’s plan for enhancing cardiovascular services.

Cardiac Catheterizations

On the cardiac, or heart side, physicians perform cardiac catheterizations for patients with low-risk heart problems. The state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment produces detailed images of the heart’s peripheral arteries and blood flow.

Peripheral Catheterizations

The Cath Lab also performs peripheral vascular screenings for diagnostics and interventional procedures such as stents or balloon interventions. Patients who suffer from difficulty walking, unexplained leg pain or swelling in the extremities are potential vascular screening candidates.

Should you need to be transported for a higher level of care, the Cleveland Clinic Transport Team is available to transport you to the appropriate hospital in the Cleveland Clinic Health System that will provide you with world class cardiac care.

The Women’s Cardiac Risk Reduction Clinic

The Women’s Cardiac Risk Reduction Program at Medina Hospital helps women better understand cardiac disease and learn how to identify, reduce, and manage their modifiable risk factors. It begins with a one-on-one appointment with one of the cardiac nurse practitioners who identify the individual’s risks for cardiac disease and being to develop a personalized cardiac risk reduction plan. This plan includes specific health eating plan, blood pressure management, cholesterol management, weight management and loss if appropriate, and an individual exercise prescription.

The program is twice weekly for twelve weeks and small cohorts meet as a group to measure progress toward their goals and to learn about developing heart healthy lifestyle habits. Twice each week members engage in a women’s only physical activity hour in which they work under the guidance of an exercise physiologist according to their exercise prescription.
