Baby Friendly Designation
Lakewood Hospital has received Baby Friendly Designation from Baby-Friendly USA. Baby-Friendly USA is the national authority for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative in the United States. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding.
Lakewood Hospital is the first Cleveland Clinic health system facility and the first hospital in northeast Ohio to achieve this designation. Lakewood is the fourth hospital in Ohio to be designated.
We support Kangaroo Care, which is a bonding method of holding your baby that involves skin-to-skin contact.
Your Private Birthing Room
The Birthing Center offers eight beautiful, private birthing rooms that accommodate a family member overnight. We also offer a water-birth tub for mothers who choose this delivery option.
