Cleveland Clinic Heart and Vascular Institute physicians and researchers are actively involved in basic and translational studies to improve patient care options in the future.
Basic Research takes place in a laboratory and is the fundamental study of a research question at it's most basic level, to gain a greater understanding of a process, disease or condition.
Translational research bridges basic research with clinical care. It allows the clinician to make observations at the bedside and then take the questions to the researcher to find answers in a more controlled laboratory environment.
