The Thoracic & Cardiovascular Nurses provide quality care for the patients in our operating rooms. There are 9 Adult Cardiac rooms, 1 Pediatric room and 2 Thoracic rooms.
The OR’s are staffed 24/7 to accommodate any emergency. Specializing in Valve replacement, Coronary Artery Bypass, Reoperations, Aortic Dissections, DOR Procedures, MAZE, Pacemaker insertions, Ventricular Assist Devices, Total Artificial Heart, Da Vinci Robotics, Percutaneous Endovascular Procedures, Heart and Lung Transplantation and Pediatric Congenital Heart Surgery.
For the thirteenth consecutive year, Cleveland Clinic’s cardiac care has been ranked No. 1 in the U.S., according to the 2007 U.S. News and World Report.
Many of our nurses have obtained their ACLS, PALS and CNOR certification. AORN membership is provided by the Division of Nursing. RN’s perform duties that include:
- Patient Assessment
- Preparation of the sterile instrumentation and supplies
- Managing the operating room flow
- Computer system charging for operating room supplies
- Hand off communication to the CVICU
- Documentation of the procedure via the OR Record
