For 19 years in a row, the Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery Department has been the number one Heart Center in the United States. With this distinction comes great pride in the services and the quality of care we provide to our patients. We specialize in valve replacement, coronary artery bypass surgery, reoperations, aortic surgery, lung and heart transplantation, robotics and pediatric congenital heart surgeries.

Miller Pavilion Pre-op

Our Pre-op area provides our same day surgery patients a quiet and comfortable, private atmosphere for their surgical preparation:

  • 12 patient private rooms
  • Staggered shifts provide optimal coverage for all portions of the day
  • Duties include patient pre-op assessment, Accucheck and Hcg POCT, IV insertion, medication administration
  • 10 bay prep and hold area near operating room
Miller Pavilion Operating Rooms
  • Fifteen operating rooms (11 Cardiac, two Thoracic, and two Endovascular)
  • Two pediatric congenital heart operating rooms
  • Skill mix: RN 60%/ST 40%
  • Staffed 24 hours a day/seven days a week
  • Minimal Call Schedule
  • Shift and Specialty Unit Differential
  • Expanded OR Team Concept
