G. Willy Davila, MD, a board-certified gynecologist with Cleveland Clinic Florida, was the winner of the Innovator award presented by the South Florida Business Journal during its annual Excellence in Health Care awards program. Dr. Davila was honored for his significant contributions to the field of urogynecology, a medical subspecialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and female pelvic floor disorders.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Davila has chaired the Department of Gynecology at Cleveland Clinic Florida, which was recently ranked by US News & World Report as one of the three top programs for gynecology in Florida and #38 nationally. He is also head of the Section of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and co-founder of the Pelvic Floor Center at Cleveland Clinic Florida, which provides a multi-disciplinary approach to treating pelvic floor disorders by combining the expertise of gynecologists, urologists and colorectal surgeons.
Dr. Davila trains post-graduate fellows in Cleveland Clinic’s Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Fellowship program, a three-year advanced training program that includes instruction in minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition, he currently serves as chairman of the board of the National Association for Continence and as secretary-treasurer of the International Urogynecological Association.
Dr. Davila earned his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in Houston, and his Bachelor’s degree from University of Texas at El Paso. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, and a gynecological urology clinical preceptorship with University of California, Irvine, at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
