Joe Vitale, BS, M Ed, Ed S, JD, Senior Director
Joe has been recruiting physicians since 1976. He has hands on experience in physician recruitment in a variety of venues and has worked in both the private/retail physician recruitment sector as well as independently, and since 2001 as an in-house physician recruiter at Cleveland Clinic. Joe was recruited to Cleveland Clinic in 2000 for the express purpose of creating, developing and growing the Office of Physician Recruitment in an effort to keep Cleveland Clinic on the leading edge of physician recruitment in today’s rapidly fluctuating and highly competitive medical market place. As Senior Director Joe guides the processes and procedures of the department and manages the overall effort of recruiting physicians as well as mid-level providers to Cleveland Clinic both domestically and internationally.
Michelle Seifert, Director of Main Campus Physician Recruitment
Michelle has been with Cleveland Clinic in physician recruitment since the inception of the department in 2001 and enjoys the challenges of recruiting for all specialties. In addition to her responsibilities for physician recruitment at the Main Campus Michelle has oversight of the Resident and Fellow Initiative as well as addressing pursuit of candidates that will bring a more diverse physician population to the Clinic. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, she was the Manager of Corporate Development and Director of Financial Reporting for an affiliate of Team Health. Her scope of responsibilities included New Business Ventures, Acquisition Analysis, Financial Reporting, Recruitment and Marketing. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and currently holds a non-practicing active CPA license in the State of Ohio. She is also an active member of Academic In-House Recruiter’s Network (AIR) and has held leadership roles with the group since its inception in 2008.
Lauren Forst, Director of Regional Physician Recruitment
Lauren’s current projects include working with the Medicine Institute (Hospital Medicine), Emergency Services Institute, Women’s Health Institute (Breast Surgery), the Neurological Institute (Center for Behavioral Health), and the Lorain Institute. Further, Lauren has oversight for the recruitment of all mid-level providers enterprise wide. In addition, Lauren is also a member of Cleveland Clinic's Women’s Professional Staff Association and works with the residents and fellows on the recruitment process. Lauren joined the Office of Physician Recruitment in 2005, and prior to joining Cleveland Clinic she started her career recruiting in the retail world. Lauren holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Psychology from Cleveland State University and was born and raised in the Cleveland area.
Jennifer Kambies, MBA, Director Special Initiatives
Jen has been working as an in-house staff physician recruiter since 2004. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Ohio University in 2002 and a MBA with a Healthcare Management focus from Regis University in 2008. She has been working at Cleveland Clinic in the Office of Physician Recruitment since 2007. Prior to her employment at Cleveland Clinic she was a physician liaison at DeKalb Medical in Decatur, GA handling physician recruitment and retention issues for physicians in the community. Jen manages the recruitment process for several specialties; Medicine Institute (Community Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and General Internal Medicine ), Neurological Institute ( Physical Medical and Rehabilitation) and Taussig Cancer Institute (Regional Oncology. Additionally, Jen is also involved with the Resident and Fellow Initiative.
Cindy Roth, MBA, Department Manager, International Physician Recruitment
Cindy joined the Office of Physician Recruitment as part of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) recruitment team in May, 2007. Previously, Cindy was a Human Resources Consultant at Cleveland Clinic working with the Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute, Digestive Diseases Institute, Head & Neck Institute and several Family Health Centers. In addition to CCAD, Cindy currently assists with recruitment for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), a government hospital in Abu Dhabi that has been managed by Cleveland Clinic since 2007. Cindy graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, subsequently earning an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College.
Lauren E. Smith, MBA, Department Manager Domestic Physician Recruitment
In 2005 Lauren received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration from Ohio University and in 2012 earned an MBA with a concentration in Health Administration from Cleveland State University. Lauren joined the Cleveland Clinic Office of Physician Recruitment in 2008 and focuses her recruitment efforts on Imaging (All Radiology Specialties), Emergency Services, Head & Neck (Dentistry), Quality & Patient Safety (Environmental Health), Digestive Disease (General and Acute Care Surgery) and all specialties at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Lauren currently heads the team providing recruitment of mid-level providers enterprise wide. She is the former Executive Director for a Dermatology & Integrative Medicine Center in Medina, Ohio. Lauren’s professional experience and continual educational endeavors have provided her with an excellent understanding and knowledge of the Healthcare Industry.
Domonique Allds, Senior Physician Recruiter
Domonique has been with the Cleveland Clinic Office of Physician Recruitment since January 2008. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, she recruited for a variety of professions, including Engineering, Sciences, Sales and Health Care. Domonique is a 2004 Kent State University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. Since joining Cleveland Clinic she has assisted in recruitment for the Pediatric Institute, the Sleep Disorders Center and the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute. Domonique enjoys recruiting for Cleveland Clinic because it allows her to meet with physicians from all over the country and show them all the great things that Cleveland Clinic has to offer.
Sandy Fedor, Senior Physician Recruiter
Sandy graduated from Cleveland State University with her Bachelors degree majoring in Human Resources. She has worked in the healthcare industry in Human Resources and Recruitment since 1995 and has been with Cleveland Clinic since 2007, joining the Office of Physician Recruitment in 2010. Her current recruitment areas of focus are in the Neurological Institute (Regional) and Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute (Regional) in addition to being part of the team that recruits mid-level providers across the enterprise. When not at work, Sandy enjoys cooking/baking, entertaining and is interested in getting more involved with hiking and rock climbing.
Kelli Hart, Senior Physician Recruiter
Kelli graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. That same year she joined Cleveland Clinic’s Department of Neurology under the Neurological Institute where she worked until 2008. In April of 2008 she became part of the Office of Physician Recruitment. Kelli works with the Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute (Nephrology/Hypertension & Stem Cell Research), Neurological Institute (Neurocritical Care), Cleveland Clinic Lorain, Ob/Gyn & Women’s Specialized Health (Gynecology Oncology & Specialized Women’s Health), Pediatric Institute (Community Pediatrics) and the Wooster Family Health Center. Kelli grew up in Northeast Ohio and finds this advantageous in the recruitment of physicians to Cleveland.
Shirlontae Moss, Administrative Program Coordinator
Shirlontae joined the Office of Physician Recruitment team in February 2010. Prior to joining OPR, Shirlontae was the education coordinator for the Sleep Disorders Center Fellowship program. Currently, Shirlontae focuses on special initiatives that include diversity, the resident and fellow initiative, and various projects where she continues to utilize the skills she has developed working in that field. Shirlontae obtained an associate of Liberal Arts degree, and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration at Ursuline College.
Sara Elias, Physician Recruiter
Sara obtained her Bachelors of Business Administration in Management and Finance in 2006 from the American University of Beirut. She joined the Office of Physician Recruitment in 2012 after transferring from Cleveland Clinic’s Center for International Medical Education where her responsibilities included coordination, operations and marketing of education programs. Sara continues to promote Cleveland Clinic’s model of care and currently focuses her efforts on physician recruiting for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Growing up in the Middle East and recent travels to the UAE allow her to share firsthand experience of the local culture with potential candidates. Sara is fluent in Arabic.
Nathan Elting, Physician Recruiter
Nathan joined the Cleveland Clinic’s Office of Physician Recruitment in 2012; he previously recruited finance and accounting professionals for a variety of industries throughout Northeast Ohio. A seasoned sales professional, Nathan has more than 15 years experience in specialized customer care, sales, marketing and project management, as well as medical billing and workers’ compensation claims. Nathan received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from Ohio University. Nathan works with the recruitment of mid-level providers as well as physicians for a variety of specialty areas.
Vincent E. Kovacic, Physician Recruiter
Vince joined Cleveland Clinic in 2007. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Rhetoric and Communication from Kent State University. Vince began his career at Cleveland Clinic in the Ombudsman Office where he investigated, documented and resolved concerns from patients and family members as well as provided assistance to Caregivers across the enterprise. Until 2013, he had been a Physician Liaison working directly with the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, the Digestive Disease Institute, the Sleep Center and the Taussig Cancer Institute doing physician outreach with referring physicians. In this role he grew patient referrals to Cleveland Clinic. Vince is proud to work for a world-class medical institution.
Jana Laird, Physician Recruiter
Jana joined the Office of Physician Recruitment in 2012 as part of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi recruitment team. She is originally from northwestern Pennsylvania and is a graduate of West Virginia University. Jana has a degree in Journalism and over five years of marketing, advertising and client relations experience with two Fortune 500 companies. She and her husband recently moved from the New York City area to Cleveland to be closer to their family in Pennsylvania.
Ryan Mayer, Physician Recruiter
Ryan has always had a passion for recruiting, and joined Cleveland Clinic's Office of Physician Recruitment after sales and recruiting roles in the academic, corporate and scientific fields. Ryan graduated from the University of Dayton with degrees in Leadership and Marketing. While not directly involved in patient care at Cleveland Clinic, Ryan understands the importance of the OPR team’s role in finding caregivers at all levels who will value the patient experience while providing world class care. Christine Omahen, MBA, Physician Recruiter
Christine recently joined the Office of Physician Recruitment in October 2011 as part of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi recruitment team. She has been with Cleveland Clinic since 2007, beginning her career in the Human Resources department, then moving into Staffing & Recruitment in 2009. Christine obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Management with a Human Resources concentration from John Carroll University and her MBA from Cleveland State University. She has also obtained certifications as a Certified Internet Recruiter and a Certified Social Sourcing Recruiter. Christine has found that her recent trip to Abu Dhabi has provided her with the invaluable opportunity to speak to candidates firsthand about Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s international opportunities.

Michael graduated from University of Toledo in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic's Office of Physician Recruitment in October 2011, he recruited individuals in the education field for Medical, Legal and Business occupations. Michael enjoys recruiting because he is committed and enthusiastic about assisting individuals find opportunities that will benefit them both professionally and personally. He will be recruiting a broad range of physician specialties and focusing on recruitment of mid-level providers enterprise wide.
Angela Rosa, Physician Recruiter
Angela graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration in 2008. She began her career in Human Resources (HR) at Cleveland Clinic and in 2010 transferred to International Human Resources as a HR Generalist supporting International Operations including our Cleveland Clinic colleagues in Abu Dhabi (CCAD), Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), and in Toronto at Cleveland Clinic Canada. In her role as a Physician Recruiter, Angela will focus on the recruitment and retention of mid-level providers as well as a variety of physician specialists. Heather Wright, Physician Recruiter
Heather is a Michigan native and graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She joined Cleveland Clinic's Office of Physician Recruitment in October 2011. Prior to joining Physician Recruitment, Heather relocated to the Cleveland area and worked in pharmaceutical sales and college recruiting. Currently, Heather focuses on physician recruitment for the Department of Radiology, the Eye Institute, and the Respiratory Institute for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Heather is excited to join Cleveland Clinic and recruit for the first facility in the Middle East to operate under the Cleveland Clinic staff model.
Scott M. Simmons, MBA, Director Office of Professional Staff Affairs Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
Scott is responsible for establishing an Office of Professional Staff Affairs for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the new 360-bed hospital Cleveland Clinic is opening in the United Arab Emirates. Part of this initiative involves Scott leading the global effort to recruit physicians for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and Cleveland Clinic-managed Sheikh Khalilfa Medical City through the Cleveland Clinic Office of Physician Recruitment. Scott joined Cleveland Clinic and was part of the Office of Physician Recruitment from 2006 to 2012 until assuming his role in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Scott has over 16 years of private industry experience as the president and owner of two different regional medical staffing and recruiting firms and for eight years prior was an environmental chemist working with the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Environmental Resources. Scott earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his Bachelor of Science degree in biology & chemistry from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
