Assessment
Our Sports Health program at Cleveland Clinic Canada begins with a thorough assessment of the patient’s physical concerns by a sports medicine physician.
This may be followed by:
- Specialized diagnostic testing. This would include imaging and other relevant tests to ensure the most accurate diagnosis.
- Surgical evaluation. While most sports-related conditions can be managed without surgery, some may require further consideration and orthopaedic consultation. Our specialists will ensure you understand the benefits of surgical intervention against its potential risks.
Injury Treatment, Education & Prevention
Following your assessment, the sports medicine physician will develop a personalized treatment plan for you which may include an array of non-surgical treatments from our physiotherapist and/or chiropractor.
One of our senior physiotherapists will help patients rehabilitate their current injury through manual therapy, active exercise and modalities such as acupuncture and ultrasound. Through education and timely progression of exercise and activity, he will work with you to prevent future injury.
Chiropractic care is closely integrated into our approach to manage sports-related and non-sports related pain and dysfunction. It helps to restore normal joint mechanics and soft tissue elasticity. Our chiropractor uses a variety of interventions to optimize treatment results, including Graston Technique, Active Release Technique and spinal adjustment.
