Last week Toronto Public Health announced that public clinics are now able to vaccinate the general public for H1N1. This announcement was accompanied by the good news that the vaccine supply has increased and wait times are minimal to non existent at the public clinics.
As a healthcare provider, we feel that it is important to share the following vaccination advice with you. The flu virus is still circulating in Toronto and vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and your family. It is important for you to know that we are currently in the middle of the flu season and it takes 10 to 14 days for someone to be fully immunized once they receive the vaccination.
Since we do not currently have the H1N1 vaccine at our clinic, we are encouraging you and your family, especially those at high risk, to get vaccinated at your local public clinic. You can access a complete list of clinics at http://www.toronto.ca/health or by calling 311. All clinics are open Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
