Cleveland Clinic Pain Medicine Fellowship Program
Cleveland Clinic’s Pain Medicine Fellowship Program is the largest and one of the most prestigious programs in the United States. The goal of our program is to train future leaders and consultants in pain management practice and research. Up to ten ACGME-approved positions are offered for a 12-month or 24-month fellowship in multidisciplinary pain medicine. The 24-month fellowship positions are offered to candidates with the potential to become future academic leaders of research and clinical care in pain management. This unique opportunity takes advantage of the internationally renowned leadership role of Cleveland Clinic in interventional pain management and outcomes research within anesthesiology and pain medicine.
Fellows are valued colleagues in our multidisciplinary Pain Management team. We evaluate 100 to 120 patients and perform 50 to 60 interventional procedures daily, using state of the art technology and equipment in the Chronic Pain Management Center which has 20 examination rooms and 6 procedure suites. In addition, we admit patients to the hospital and provide monitored intrathecal and/or epidural infusion therapies. We also provide chronic and cancer pain inpatient consultation service to all specialties/departments of Cleveland Clinic. We emphasize team work and strive to provide the highest quality of patient care, education, and research. Our team is composed of a large number of expert pain physicians, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurses, and other supporting staff.
Fellows are required to rotate through the following disciplines and services:
- Chronic Pain Management (core rotation, 8 months)
- Neurology rotation: Headaches and Facial Pain Center (2–4 weeks)
- Cancer Pain and Palliative Medicine (2 weeks)
- Psychiatry for Pain Specialist (2–4 weeks)

- Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation (2 weeks)
- Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesia (2 weeks)
