Biography

About Ken Uchino, MD

Ken Uchino, MD, is a stroke neurologist at Cerebrovascular Center at Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is the Director of Research and Education at Cerebrovascular Center and is the program director of Vascular Neurology Fellowship. He is a Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

Dr Uchino’s interest cover a range from acute stroke treatment and causes of strokes and prevention and sees patients in hospital with acute stroke and in outpatient clinic.

He graduated from New York University School of Medicine, and trained in neurology at University of Washington, Seattle. He completed a two-year fellowship in cerebrovascular diseases at University of Texas-Houston. He was on the faculty at University of Pittsburgh for 6 years and since 2009 has been a staff physician at Cleveland Clinic Cerebrovascular Center.

Dr Uchino has published over 130 peer-reviewed papers. He has research interests in particular in acute stroke treatment and intracranial stenosis (narrowing of brain arteries).

Dr. Uchino had reviewed my case prior to coming into the room and answered all my questions gave me some good advice, but never pushed it on me. It was things that I could think about to improve my health and cardiovascular situation. I was very pleased and so was my son who had accompanied me.
