After attaining her BS in biology from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., Dr. Sands earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1996. She completed her general surgery residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla., followed by a colorectal surgery fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida Weston. Dr. Sands is licensed to practice in the state of Florida.
She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Broward County Medical Association and the
Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Sands writes numerous papers, book chapters and abstracts in her field and presents at major medical meetings and symposia.

Everyone was so kind and accommodating. I was extremely nervous about my appointment. I had been putting it off as it's an uncomfortable situation. 90 seconds into my meeting with Dr. Sands I was able to relax. She is INCREDIBLE!!! She listened and calmed my fears. She assured me that I was in good hands. She lightened the mood by taking to me and making me laugh. I am so happy to be under her care. Dr. Sands is an excellent doctor and a wonderful human being! Dr. Sands was very direct and immediately tackled the problem to include administering a finger probe and inserting a scope. I have had this problem for 3 years and seen several doctors locally who never did such a thorough exam. I left the office feeling hopeful, which I have not felt for some time. I didn't feel like I had been "passed around" and invisible to her.

I am impressed with Dr. Sands, but the day I was there she was held up in the morning with a surgery and unexpected complications. My appointment was at 11 AM and I've waited an hour and 45 minutes to see the doctor. My appointment was in a way rushed and I was promised a phone call to schedule further tests and a procedure. Today I have not received that phone call from her office.

Dr. Sands is an extraordinary physician. This is my 3rd Colonoscopy with her and each one has been impeccable. I live in Cape Coral so it is somewhat difficult to recommend Dr. Sands to individuals who already have physicians at local hospitals. Unfortunately that is their loss as she is truly an amazing physician and person.

Dr. Dana Sands is an amazing doctor. Her attention to the patient is appreciated. I'm not 100% happy that I have to always go thru the scheduling dept to get some answers regarding my appointment and it's hard to speak to her office as I had a question. Many times I would call and be transferred to a black hole as no one would answer. Also, had an appt and then it was moved forward to another week further but with all that said, I love Dr. Sands and her staff are wonderful! Dr. Sands is the best and has such a calming, funny and sweet disposition. I recommend Dr. Dana Sands highly and without reservation.
