Biography

About Troy Woodard, MD

Dr. Troy  Woodard  is originally from Nashville, TN.   He received High Honors  and a bachelor of science degree from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.  While attending DePaul University,  Dr. Woodard was a recipient of the esteemed  Presidential science scholarship.  He was a competitive NCAA Division I collegiate track and field athlete and a cofounder of the DePaul Gospel Choir.   After completing undergrad, Dr. Woodard successfully attended and graduated from The John Hopkins School of Medicine in 2003. Subsequently, Dr. Woodard attended Loyola University Medical Center where he successfully completed  his Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency training  and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2008. While in residency, Dr. Woodard served on the governing council and was the BOG Legislative Representative for the Section for Residents and Fellows in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.   Following his otolaryngology residency, Dr. Woodard pursued additional clinical training as a clinical fellow in Advanced  Rhinology and Sinus Surgery at Medical College of Georgia.

Since completion of his medical training in 2009, Dr. Woodard has practiced Rhinology, Sinus and Skull Base Surgery at Cleveland Clinic.  Dr. Woodard’s specialty interests include acute and chronic sinonasal disease, CSF leak repairs, and benign and malignant anterior skull base neoplasms.  He has maintained his commitment to scholarly work and teaching.  Dr. Woodard has published  numerous peer reviewed articles, several book chapters, and has given countless lectures.  He is currently Co –director of the Advanced Rhinology, Sinus and Skull base fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.

In addition to his work in rhinology, Dr. Woodard has a strong desire to give back to the community and engage in student mentorship.  He is a champion for diversity and is involved with several diversity initiatives within the Cleveland Clinic, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the Society of University Otolaryngologists.  Dr. Woodard is currently the president of  the Harry Barnes Medical Society, Chair of the Section of Otolaryngology of the National Medical Association and Co-Chair of the Minority Physician Resource Group at the Cleveland Clinic.

I did not appreciate reading the clinic notes from the doctor, he mentioned past medical history that had no relevance to my visit and I found it offensive.

The doctor's medical skills were clearly high, and I see an improvement in my breathing already, but his bedside manner was detached, and he didn't really explain anything to me about the procedure, what to expect, any questions etc.
