Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/19/2024, Dr. Miller has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Reviewed on Sep 27, 2023

I really liked dr. Miller and respect him very much.

Reviewed on Sep 27, 2023

I could tell he was very experienced, and he was no-nonsense, which I appreciated. I wasn't even sure if my symptoms were "enough" to compel a visit to the Cleveland Clinic, but he was able to validate the need for a team to review. I also appreciated his sense of curiosity about my myriad of symptoms--did not brush them off or dismiss any of them, which has been an Issue In the past with other providers.

Reviewed on Sep 20, 2023

It was an amazing experience. Dr. Miller listened intensively while I told my story and asked relevant follow-up questions. It was the first time I've actually felt like I was "heard" about my condition, and greatly appreciate the ease he brought to my mind.

Reviewed on Sep 12, 2023

Dr Miller has a very easy-going personality, but the degree to which he was able to address any of my issues was limited. I do not think this is his fault, particularly, and at least he listened to me and made no attempt to downplay or question the severity of my symptoms. However, overall I did not get what I had hoped, at all, from the national consult program and I'm disappointed in the lack of organization that seemed to be the primary cause of this.

Dr. Miller is great! I can hardly express how much I appreciate him and the care he provided. I first spoke with him when I was very ill following surgery; he was one of the few doctors I met with who really cared that I wasn't recovering well. He even uncovered issues other doctors missed. I live in Chicago and wish he was based there. He would definitely be my go-to internist.
