Biographical Sketch

Joseph G. Cacchione, MD, FACC, is an interventional cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Arnold and Sydell Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He also is Chairman of Operations and Strategy at Cleveland Clinic.

Number of Procedures Performed: Dr. Cacchione has performed more than 25,000 cardiac catheterizations and 4,000 cardiac interventions throughout his career.

Education and Training: Dr. Cacchione received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship and residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, OH, and a fellowship in clinical cardiology at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, NY. He returned to University Hospitals for a one-year research fellowship followed by a one-year fellowship in interventional cardiology. Dr. Cacchione also earned Executive Certification at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He was appointed to the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2009. Prior to that, he was in private cardiology practice and on the cardiology staff at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA. He also served as the Chief Quality Officer, St. Vincent Health System, and Chief of the Division of Cardiology, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Vice Chairman of the Critical Care Committee at St. Vincent Health Center.

Publications:  Dr. Cacchione has authored and co-authored many articles published in leading medical journals.
