Patients also benefit from programs designed as a result of the department’s close collaborations with Medical Genetics, Pulmonary Function lab and Physical Therapy. Success rates for specific procedures are available at

Dr. Bartholomew has spoken at many major national meetings, workshops, symposiums and conferences about the diagnosis and treatment of patients with deep vein and pulmonary embolism and peripheral arterial disease, and the diagnosis and management of patients with hypercoagulable states and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, as well as patients with unusual vascular disorders and lymphedema and lipedema.

About Dr. Bartholomew: “I enjoy my field because many of the patients I treat have disorders that are not well known to other physicians. In that way, patients are extremely thankful that there are physicians that deal with these unusual and often complicated diseases. Many of our patients go from doctor to doctor before they find the right answer to their medical problems, and it is gratifying to let them know that someone understands what is wrong with them. In addition, I like the opportunity to use the newer anticoagulants to treat patients who have blood clots and to help advance the field of medicine related to those events.”

Leisure Activities: In his spare time, Dr. Bartholomew enjoys fishing, hiking, skiing, writing and reading.

Dr Bartholomew was absolutely wonderful. I drove several hours for this visit and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have been experiencing my issue for a large portion of my life but not many providers are familiar with it. Dr Bartholomew is an expert in this area, provided a thorough examination, and explained every step of the way. I never once felt rushed. Exposing my legs for any reason, especially examination, is extremely difficult for me. Dr Bartholomew's bedside manner and disposition made the encounter truly comfortable, removing personal anxiety and fear of judgement. I left the visit feeling heard and equipped with plenty of educational material. I am more confident and optimistic about moving forward with a plan to treat my condition.

Reviewed on Sep 20, 2022

I dont think Dr. Bartholomew really understands eating disorders- which is true of most doctors. I dont think that the doctor really had a thorough understanding of my entire health picture and how that impacts ability to manage the condition for which I was seeking help. That is frequently a problem given the fractured nature of health care. I also have a complicated set of interacting problems. Many health care providers do not get the full picture. Given the interaction of my health care problems, it is getting harder for me to comply with all aspects of my treatment as well as I should. Weight loss is particularly hard for me, which I am sure Dr. Bartholomew hears often.
