Biography

About Jinny Tavee, MD

Dr. Jinny Tavee has served as a staff neurologist in the Neuromuscular Center at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation since 2007 and is Director of the Neuromuscular Fellowship Program. Dr. Tavee graduated from the combined 6-year BA-MD program at the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1998, and completed her internship and neurology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2002, where she was elected chief resident. This was followed by a one-year fellowship in EMG and Neuromuscular medicine that was also at the Cleveland Clinic. She is board certified in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Neuromuscular Medicine, Electrodiagnostic Medicine (EMG), and Integrative Holistic Medicine. A Naval Health Sciences Scholarship recipient, Dr. Tavee served in the U.S. Navy from 2003-2007, earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

While on active duty, she was a Staff Neurologist and Chief of the EMG Laboratory at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. She returned to the Cleveland Clinic as a staff physician in 2007, and also holds the position of Associate Professor with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Since her return, she has published numerous articles on neuromuscular disorders and received the award for Neurology Teacher of the Year in 2008.

She has also received national and institutional research grants from sources such as the American Academy of Neuromuscular Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the Bakken Heart Brain Institute for projects that range from EMG studies in the healthy elderly to meditation for the treatment of pain in neuropathy. She is currently involved in clinical trials for medications used to treat neurosarcoidosis. Although she has a large practice that includes patients with neuromuscular disorders and neurosarcoidosis, Dr. Tavee has a special interest in integrating holistic medical practices, such as nutrition therapy and meditation, with conventional medicine for the treatment of chronic neurological diseases. She has led meditation retreats for Cleveland Clinic patients and U.S. Marines returning from the Gulf War through the Wounded Warriors program.
