Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 1/29/2021, Dr. Sabo has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Feel extremely comfortable with Dr. Sabo.

I am being treated for a worker's comp knee injury. Once seen, Dr. Sabo prepares notes and a report to continue treatment decided upon. However, paperwork is sent to a third party to forward to workers comp and it takes a ridiculous amount of time. I was seen three weeks ago and workers comp still has not received any paperwork, and have contacted me to expedite the getting the doctors notes. Claims adjuster told me they would approve treatment but are not receiving the Doctors notes, report, or treatment plan which includes PT and shot to the knee. Aside from the delay in being able to get healed and get back to work, I am still in pain. I find it hard to believe it takes a month to forward paperwork to worker comp adjuster. I had the same delay when I first saw the doctor in May and he recomended an MRI, it took 6 weeks for that paperwork to be sent to workers comp. That is unnaceptable.

Dr. Sabo was absolutely the best surgeon I could have chosen for my surgery and recovery. He's extremely knowledgeable and personable and truly made me feel like he cared about my injury and path to recovery. I cannot possibly say enough great things about him.

I believe the doctor was smart and new his stuff. However, I felt very rushed during the entire visit. because of that I wasn't really able to ask questions or thoughts I had. His bedside manner was not good. Again-I do feel he is a good doctor and knows and understands my issues with my knee, but for these reasons I have switched my appts. to another orthopedic at UH. he was my daughters doctor and was very patient and and encouraged questions and explained his thoughts in great detail. If surgery is a possibility, I feel more comfortable with him.
