Education and Training: A native of Chicago, Dr. Gornik completed her undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins University, double majoring in public health and Spanish literature. She received a Master's degree in biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from The University of Chicago/ Pritzker School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. She continued her education at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received a Master’s degree in clinical investigation. She is highly active in multiple research programs related to FMD.  In this regard, Dr. Gornik serves as the Cleveland Clinic site principal investigator for the United States Registry for Fibromuscular Dysplasia, and her interest in the care of patients with FMD has led to the creation of a dedicated clinic for patients with the condition.

Dr. Gornik has lectured frequently on her clinical specialty interests and her research work. She is author or co-author of book chapters in medical textbooks and she has published articles and abstracts in leading, peer-reviewed journals.

About Dr. Gornik: “It has been an exciting challenge for me to become immersed in the field of FMD research and clinical care. It is exciting to be able to take new discoveries about FMD immediately into the clinic to discuss with my patients to try to improve their health and quality of life.  Conversely, our observations from the clinic and also the great questions patients ask have helped to inform and motivate our research program.  My patients continue to motivate me and others in our FMD program to learn more about their disease, to find better ways to care for FMD patients, and to teach other healthcare providers about FMD so that patients with this under-recognized and underdiagnosed vascular disease can receive high-quality medical care no matter where they live.”

Leisure time activities: In her leisure time, Dr. Gornik enjoys spending time with family.

Reviewed on May 26, 2016

Everyone at the clinic, from the parking attendant to the doctor herself, exceeded my highest expectations. I traveled over 800 miles to see Dr. Gornik, and I would do it again. I have worked in a medical center for 15 years, and know what patient-centered care should be. Cleveland Clinic is not only a well oiled machine, but they treat their patients with the utmost care, sensitivity, and respect!

Reviewed on May 17, 2016

I live in Bellevue, Washington and see Dr. Gornik about every other year. She first saw me in June 2011, again in 2013 and for the visit last week. She coordinates care for me with my local provider. I have Fibromuscular Dyplasia, a rare vascular disease. Dr. Gornik and her staff provide excellent care and I have referred several other patients to her. The Cleveland Clinic is well deserving of it's world class medical facility reputation and Dr. Gornik and her patients exemplify that level of patient care! I am proud to be a patient of the Cleveland Clinic and am sorry that the geographic distance prevents me from being seen there more often.

Reviewed on May 13, 2016

Dr. Gornik is excellent in every way, I fly from out of state to see her and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. I am an employed physician in a large healthcare organization myself and I am always impressed with everything I see and experience at the Cleveland Clinic. Keep up the fantastic work.
