Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 10/20/2018, Dr. Gans has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Dr had been called to surgery and I wasn't upset that he was a little late. spoke with a lot of nice patients while I was waiting. if I needed him I would want him with me in surgery so my wait was nothing.

Have the utmost confidence in Dr. Gan and consider myself very fortunate to get appointment with him. Dr. Gan answered all my questions, is extremely professional and all that you would want in excellent eye surgeon.

I did not have to wait, however, when going to medical appointment bring a book. No doctor intentionally makes patients wait, emergencies and problems do happen.

Dr Gans was very helpful in answering my questions and clarifying any issues I identified. I appreciated the information he provided on the reason he recommended a specific IOL lens for my condition and why he did not think other types(identified by friends who had other types implanted) would address my particular needs.

They got me into the exam room but there were waits due to doctor's schedule of emergencies.
Reviewed on Aug 22, 2018
Dr. Gans was called away to surgery so the wait time was understandable, but longer than I had experienced before.

Dr. Gans is one of the best. He made me feel at ease during a very stressful time. Not being able to see is very scary. He was able to explain everything in a manner that I was able to understand and feel comfortable with.

Able to get a same day appointment due to a cancellation. Everything went very smoothly. Dr. Gans was efficient, but not rushed. Great visit.

My meeting with Dr. Gans was brief but pleasant. He gave me the actual eye exam (internal eye) and answered all my questions.

Appointment was completed in a timely manner. Provider was on time and thorough in his exam and asked if I had any further questions once the exam was complete. A very good experience with him as usual.

Dr. Ganz gave a very detailed explanation of my options at this point, benefits and risks and then let me make a decision based on that information.

Dr Gans has provided excellent care in regards to my cataracts both in evaluation and in surgery over the last four years. He communicated well and kept me advised as to the status of my cataract development, and when it came time to take them out was an excellent surgeon.

He was rushed and tired. It was late in the day. I was just another patient
Reviewed on Feb 5, 2018
Dr. Gans was professional but distant, and at times seemed not to be listening as I explained my condition. He seemed more focused on his tests and results than on responding to what I tried to explain about my vision problems. Only at the end of the visit--once he had a recommendation--did he become more interactive and animated. The recommendation was quite confusing as it contradicted what the nurses who performed my exam had told me earlier.

Dr. Gans is a great communicator. Made me feel so less anxious about my problem.

Printed instructions post-op cataract did NOT match what was given to me as an additional sheet - crearting some confusion on my part & I called to clarify . I pointed this out on return appt to Dr.Gans and his comment was that prior they did give eye gtts to individual patient but now must be purchased due to cost restraints. The discharge instructions say " You will be given a home going kit with eye gtts. Pls bring that kit, etc,etc
