About Stephen Pinney, MD

Stephen J. Pinney MD joined the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery within the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute in 2019. Previously, he served as Chief of the Distal Extremity Service at the University of British Columbia, and prior to that he was the head of the foot and ankle service at the University of California, San Francisco.

Dr. Pinney is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery, including acute injuries, chronic problems, and complex reconstructions. Providing a patient-centered approach to care delivery is a hallmark of his clinical practice. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

In addition, Dr. Pinney has a passionate interest in education and healthcare reform. He has served as the Chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Course for Orthopaedic Educators and he is the Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed patient education website Dr. Pinney has authored numerous research publications and he has presented many times at national and international conferences. He is actively involved in clinical research at the Cleveland Clinic.
