Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 6/27/2019, Dr. Sofi has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. I did not speak with a doctor he spoke to my husband I was still under. when we got home and looked in a folder apparently it said that I had diverticulosis oh, and that award was mentioned about that I thought maybe you might want to slightly say something instead of opening a folder when you get home and looking at it.

most definitely will recommend Dr. Sophi

Again the delay in being seen overshadowed the entire appointment. The doctor's lack of empathy, caring, did not apologize for the wait, no bedside manner. We did schedule the procedure but we will not return and will NEVER recommend this practice to ANYONE.

Dr Sofi saw me for the first time. Barely spoke and when he did I felt he was abrupt. I saw him all of 5 minutes.

This appointment was the second worse appointment I've ever had. 2nd only to the colonoscopy provided by the same physician a few weeks later in which the only two things he said were "name & date of birth?" and "sign here.". absolutely nothing else said to me.

This was my first time seeing Doctor Sofi. I was very relieved that he had already looked at my previous history and treatment prior to speaking with me so that he was familiar with my situation, but that he still asked for those things in my own words. I felt heard by him as I spoke, and appreciated that he waited to take all of these things into consideration before making any recommendations. Every concern I had was addressed by Doctor Sofi. I also appreciated his suggestions about lifestyle changes as part of my treatment plan instead of being overwhelmed with testing and/or medication. He explained everything in a way that I could understand.
