Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 10/5/2020, Dr. Biats has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. I already recommend AGOBGYN and AGH to everyone I know. Beyond that I always explain the comfort level in Dr. Biats and the fact that he treats me like a human, not a "patient". He listens to my concerns and makes sure to talk to me with full openness about all my issues. Explains medical terminology and makes sure I'm informed on all decisions good and bad

The whole experience from my initial call, for the appointment, to the moment I left the building, was a 10. I actually enjoyed everyone with whom I came in contact. They were eager to anticipate my needs. My throat was dry and immediately I was brought water to drink by Dr. Biats nurse. My lab work and follow up visits were not only set up for me, the ladies, at the desk were knowledgeable and generous with the information I requested; as were the ladies that received me, when I arrived. Dr. Biats was very informative, explaining everything in terms that I understood. He demeanor is gracious and personable. Reflecting now, I'm impressed with how at ease I felt within the first few minutes of the time I spent with him too. Which given the reason for my visit, I'm thrilled to have a doctor, like Dr. Biats for this matter. I'm grateful to the lady I spoke to when I called for the appointment. When I explained my situation, she put in the extra effort to find an available appointment with Dr. Biats. As I said, my experience was exemplary, thank u for your follow-up.

While being as professional as one would need him to be to have confidence, he was so personable, that I enjoyed visiting with him. I've told everyone how much more at ease I am because of my visit with him. And how grateful I am that the lady took the time to make my appointment with Dr. Biats.
