Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 10/22/2018, Dr. Chowdhry has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr seemed more concerned why I came to Cleveland Clinic than about helping me. Dr put me on defensive and never really listened to me. On recommendation of my family Dr, I travelled three and a half hours each way to seek help at Cleveland Clinic and it was a complete waste of time. Dr just continually asked me why I came so far for appointment. I did because no local Dr had been able to help me and family Dr thought it was next logical step. I was extremely disappointed.

My husband & I were by very impressed with Dr. Chowdhry. He was very professional, through, explained everything, why he was prescribing what he was, and why he wanted to wait before doing any further testing and what that would be I will definitely recommend him to anyone who asks me for information on who I see for my gastroissues.

No delay, was taken in within a reasonable time and after verifying medications and vitals were taken, Dr. Chowdhry was in within five minutes.

All nursing staff was very pleasant and took very good care of me. The Doctor explained the procedure and what to expect. He explained any risks and explained the reason for the procedure. After the procedure was completed he talked to me about the outcome and made sure i understood to call if I had any problems.

Dr. Chowdry recognized that it was necessary to have a surgeon involved to reach a determination of what care was appropriate. Within the bounds of his expertise the doctor addressed our concerns and facilitated a future engagement.

Dr Sallen Choundry was very polite and knowledgeable! He said that I needed to see a surgeon and he tried to get me in same day but she was out of office! He knew my problem after asking a few questions!

My first time seeing Dr Chowdhry and I was thoroughly pleased

Reviewed on May 1, 2019

After waiting 8 months for the appt, and a 6 hour one-way drive with an overnight stay, the physician was in the room 27 minutes total, cutting us off in mid-sentence 8 times. We had asked to give him a 3 minute history of the last 7 years of illness. He had NO bedside manner. It was so very disappointing, we were stunned. He raised his voice and said "The story you are telling makes no sense." "I only deal in facts!" "Many of my patients never know what is wrong with them." "Why do you even care what is wrong with you after this length of time?" We were only providing the facts and tests that were done to that point. He was very rude. He seemed not to care. When some of the test results came back abnormal, he said "I don't know what to do with this." "He needs to ask another doctor." This is the most disheartening and disappointing attitudes I have ever encountered, and to think it was from a physician at Cleveland Clinic.

We are from out of town and was quite the investment of time and money to get to the clinic. However, well worth the effort. The doctor had reviewed both my local hospital and doctor reports and was well informed about my problem and history. He both reaffirmed information I knew as well as providing new information.

Dr. walked in room made no eye contact. very nonchalant about my problems. Had to insist he look at discs I had from doctors in Columbus. He was of no help. felt I wasted a trip. made no effort to get my reports from 3 other doctors that sent information. I called on 4/9/19 his office now have reports. these were sent before the appointment. He needs to learn how to treat patients. maybe fake his concern.

Dr. Chowdhry had an excellent rapport with me. His experience was comforting.

my doctor was extremely compassionate. I became emotional and he made sure to offer tissues and move in closer as to show he was offering support. He was unsure of how to proceed but definitely didn't leave me feeling like there's nothing we could do (which is what I was told by another doctor).

Dr. Chowdhry is a wonderful doctor. No only does he take time to ask questions and listen to your concerns, he promptly orders the necessary procedures while considering the distance/time traveled to get to Cleveland. I was able to be seen and have tests completed in Cleveland 2 months before I could have seen my Dr. at home. Thank you Dr. Chowdhry for your thoroughness and eagerness to help me find answers!

Dr. Chowdhry did seem to have the proper diagnosis. However, he needs to work on his bedside manner. When he told me my diagnosis, he was cold and unsympathetic. I expect more from the Cleveland Clinic - it certainly was not the experience that Cleveland Clinic prides themselves on. He needs to show more compassion and empathy toward his patients. I felt like I was talking to a robot.
