Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 3/4/2020, Dr. Kim has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

I was disappointed the doctor had not reviewed my medical history, which I sent a week in advance and confirmed receipt by phone. I spent a lot of time typing up my history and it wasn't even looked at. It would have been very helpful to have had that reviewed.

I trust my doctor

Reviewed on Jan 28, 2020

this provider was knowledgeable, professional and kind. She listened to my lengthy history (even after reviewing 60 pages of medical records prior to my arrival), asked very appropriate questions and took the time answer every single one of my questions. She was aware that I had worked as a registered nurse and was courteous and professional in her discussion with me. I really can't recall a physician visit that went better than this one. we agreed on possible medications to try and a plan for follow up care that was we both felt would be appropriate and in my best interest!

The clinical staff did an excellent job in obtaining the necessary information for the doctor's visit! As previously stated, I would recommend Cleveland Clinic to anyone and everyone!

This "Doctor " should focus on research work where she doesn't have to deal with patients. the all of "30 seconds " which I stretched to "2 minutes " because I said "are you certain " to her " we can't help you" answer. Too bad for me I drove 9 hours for such POOR treatment!!

I did not like this doctor at all. I would never go back to her or recommend anyone to her. She was not concerned at all about the problem that I came to see her about. She also mentioned a woman that she had recently diagnosed cancer was in a joking manner. I called her and she still has not called me back.

Dr Kim was wonderful

Reviewed on Oct 15, 2019

provider spent about 3 minutes with me. did not explain all of my treatment options or why I would or would not make a good candidate for certain treatment options. she verbatim said "this just is the way it is going to be for you. you aren't going to get better." very rushed, poor bedside manner to deliver such hopeless news. Mayo Clinic providers would have done a much better job and had better bedside manner

Reviewed on Sep 9, 2019

the doctor spoke as she typed and seemed more concentrated on the computer than on me. she gave me very little direction other than continue on medicine already prescribed and schedule 2 tests. she said to follow GERD diet but didn't provide any info on that. she said medicine had to be taken on empty stomach but directions said to take w or without food
