About Joseph Campbell, MD

Joseph Campbell, MD, is a physician in the Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine Section in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic main campus.

Specialty Interests: Peripheral artery disease (PAD), critical limb ischemia, carotid artery disease, renal artery stenosis, subclavian artery stenosis, chronic mesenteric ischemia, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) intervention, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter insertion/retrieval, coronary artery disease (CAD), percutaneous (minimally invasive) coronary intervention, heart attack (acute myocardial infarction, MI)

Experience: Physicians in the Section of Vascular Medicine annually perform more than 450 minimally invasive procedures for treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) for patients with disease that affects blood flow to their legs and feet. 

Success Rates: The Section of Vascular Medicine at Cleveland Clinic is one of the most active Vascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology programs in the United States. Education: Dr. Campbell earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.  He served his residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic. He subsequently did advanced fellowships in both interventional cardiology as well as vascular medicine and endovascular intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Campbell joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2018 following completion of his vascular medicine and endovascular intervention fellowship.

Publications: Dr. Campbell has authored or co-authored chapters in cardiovascular medicine and heart valve disease manuals and published papers in medical journals.

About Dr. Campbell: “I consider it a privilege to care for patients with advanced cardiac and vascular disease, many of whom have significant limitations on their quality of life and have been told there are no other options for treatment. My goal is to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care, utilizing the most cutting-edge procedural techniques to achieve optimal results for patients’ cardiovascular health and limb salvage. I believe in partnering with patients to develop an individualized care plan to help them achieve their healthcare goals.”

Leisure Activities: In his leisure time, Dr. Campbell enjoys golf, cooking and spending time with family.
