Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 7/8/2019, Dr. Keshavarzi has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. The first thing the doctor said when coming into the room is that he doesn't deal with millennials but he'll make me the exception. Next he went on to tell me that I was looking for diagnosis to hold onto when in reality I have been treated by a specialist regarding my condition for years. Not only was this doctor insensitive but he was very unprofessional and I would like to never ever see him again. He categorized me (without knowing me or my hystory) as a "condition seeking millennial" whom he has no concern for as a patient.

please read the doctors review of my visit. As a provider he displayed very little compassion or patience with my explanation past and present conditions. He continued to pressure me to return to my previous surgeon. Even though I insisted I would not. (more explanation would be neede to explain this unresolved discussion we had). But this I felt was very intimidating and unprofessional, he insisted I return to past surgeon because he would want the opportunity if he was the surgeon. He would NOT let up on this request. I left the appt very insulted and disappointed. I did get a referral for a CT Scan which was important to me.

The best experience . Dr. K is very efficient, yet you know he's listening to you and hears your concerns. He offered suggestions and provided encouraging advice. He educated me regarding my condition and the options available to me, even though I had seen and been diagnosed by three neurologists previously. Very satisfied.
