In line with his passion for the education and treatment of obesity, Dr. Butsch is a strong advocate for his patients. As the Chair of the Committee on Nutrition and Physical Activity in the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Chair of the Advocacy Committee in The Obesity Society, Dr. Butsch actively participates at both the state and federal levels to reduce weight stigma and discrimination and improve coverage and reimbursement for the treatment of obesity. provider was EXCELLENT!

Dr Butsch is an outstanding doctor who I waited to see for 2 years after first watching his profile video because I was so impressed by his knowledge and approach to treating obesity. Following my recovery after an unexpected leg injury and subsequent surgery and rehabilitation and year long series of physical therapy appointments then another year riding out the pandemic. It was well worth the delay and wait. Dr Butsch even exceeded my expectations. It has taken me well over forty years of weight loss and regaining the weight back to finally find a doctor that genuinely understands that obesity is a disease and not a lifestyle choice. The Cleveland Clinic and it's patients are very fortunate to have such an excellent doctor as Dr Butsch. After just two visits I am so impressed that I would highly recommend him to anyone that struggles with obesity issues. He listens and explains the plan for my care thoroughly and with compassion and understanding. I wish more doctors had his knowledge of the nature of obesity as a disease. Way ahead of his time. His staff and personal nurse is also courteous and helpful as well!
