Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 4/1/2020, Dr. Ahmed has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. I have been a patient of Dr. Ahmed's since 2018. I travel 72 miles round trip just to see him. He was able to diagnosis and treat my iron deficiency anemia when other Drs. in Boca Raton were not able to diagnosis my problem.

Reviewed on Nov 18, 2019

Dr. Ahmed was very thorough explaining my health issues. His staff was courteous & helpful. The reason scheduling was an issue was due to the hurricane in September. I was unable to return to South Florida & the rescheduled appointment wasn?t until November. Dr. Ahmed assured me at my Nov. appt. that had there been an urgent need they would have seen me sooner. I was overall, quite pleased with Dr. Ahmed.

Dr. Ahmed was incredible. He was very thorough and he followed up with me after I was admitted. He was great at explaining what was going on and the rationale behind it. It was really comforting as he was very genuine and it was clear that he really cares about his patients.

Reviewed on Oct 23, 2019

At this time, I am not very sure, I feel like he may think he can not do anything for me?? Perhaps, next visit in TWO MONTHS (maybe) will change my mind? He suggested I see my Primary, when I asked why, he said because she knows me better? I saw her when this whole situation began, so going back to her does not sound that logical unless this Dr wants to be rid of me as a patient??

Reviewed on Oct 22, 2019

Doctors tend to not listen and just give their opinions but this provider listened to my concerns and more importantly listened to the type of patient that I am and applied a form of treatment that will work with my habits.

Reviewed on Sep 27, 2019

Dr. Ahmed was straightforward, to the point, covered all the bases as far as I could tell and set everything in motion. he explain the possibilities of the good and not do good results that we might experience. I feel confident that I'm putting my life in the rights hands with Dr. Ahmed's background and expertise.
