Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 4/21/2017, Dr. Toennes has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr Teonnes was exceptional. Great bedside manner. He asked permission to do the physical exam, which never happens. Plus, he personally escorted me to the check out desk.

My visit with Dr. Toennes was a great medical experience. He seemed interested in my situation and eager to find out a definite diagnosis. His staff was very nice. My time in the waiting and exam room was less than I expected.

The doctor answered all our questions and even though we knew he was very busy, didn't seem rushed to move us along. He spent all the time necessary to make sure we were well versed with answers.

The doctor is excellent. We are already trying to address my CHF issues. This is not an easy goal, the drugs are very powerful and expensive. As you know this illness does not get better without lifetime maintenance. I just hope that people who worked our whole lives for benefits and are now retired do not see social security ravaged nor Medicare. Life is hard enough without having to face the prospect of being bankrupt, especially by a government who made promises all along the way. I assume that the Cleveland clinic knows that many of your patients are elderly and that they get behind the retired people of the United States and support the fact that the government should pay the promises that they've made.

Doctor is definitely an asset to the organization. In addition he is caring, intelligent, and a great human being. we immediately were bouncing ideas off of each other on the possibilities of the treatments. as I said before the road is long with congestive heart failure and you need good people working with you.
