About Mouin Abdallah, MD

Mouin Sami Abdallah, MD, MSc, is a cardiologist specializing in general cardiology and cardiovascular imaging in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic main campus.

Specialty Interests: General cardiology, coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, echocardiography, electrocardiology, nuclear cardiology, stress testing, cardiovascular disease prevention and congestive heart failure, quality of care and outcomes research.

Number of Patients Treated: The Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute annually performs more than 75,000 echocardiograms, nearly 8,000 stress tests and more than 10,000 nuclear cardiology tests.  Dr. Abdallah reads several thousand electrocardiographs (ECGs), echocardiograms and nuclear cardiology studies each year

Education and Training: Dr. Abdallah earned his medical degree from American University of Beirut, Lebanon, in 2000. After completing an internal medicine residency at University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, in 2005 he spent the next six years as a primary care physician and hospitalist with Unity Point Health System in Iowa. During that time he also served for two years as Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer for the health system followed by two years as Chief Medical Informatics Officer. In 2009 he received a Master’s of Science in Health Care Management from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Mass. Dr. Abdallah left Unity Point in 2011 to pursue subspecialty training in cardiology at Saint Luke’s Mid-America Heart Institute, Kansas City, Mo. In 2013 he received a Master’s of Science in Clinical Research from the University of Kansas, Kansas City, Kan.  Dr. Abdallah joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2016 upon completion of his cardiovascular disease fellowship.

Research, Publications and Speaking: Dr. Abdallah has participated in multiple studies related to patient outcomes, including the SYNTAX and FREEDOM trials, which compared outcomes for coronary artery bypass graft surgery versus stent placement as treatment for coronary artery disease. Dr. Abdallah has co-authored a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed medical journals related to these trials and has presented at national medical meetings, including the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

About Dr. Abdallah: My goal is to provide the best care possible for every patient by using my primary care and research background together with my knowledge and experience in cardiology and cardiac imaging. This allows me to gain a better understanding of the patient’s cardiovascular health and guide their treatment to improve their overall health and well-being.

Leisure Activities: In his leisure time Dr. Abdallah enjoys spending time with family, reading, hiking and travelling.

I was scheduled for a aortic valve replacement and double bipass. the treatment a new ace was excellent. Everyone was extremely professional, courteous, and I received top notch care. i did not answer many of these questions because the were not applicable, and n/a was not a choice.
