About Michael Mont, MD

Dr. Michael A. Mont is Chairman Orthopaedics at Cleveland Clinic Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute. Prior to this post he was the Director of the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Baltimore, Maryland from 2000 to 2016. He was also an Associate Professor of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Formerly, he graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Natural Sciences and he received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1984.  He did his orthopaedic residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City (1984-1989) which was followed by a lower extremity fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1989-1990). He specializes in adult hip and knee joint preservation, replacement surgery, osteonecrosis, as well as complex joint arthroplasty revisions.  He actively participates in many research studies in the areas of joint preservation and arthroplasty with over 100 grants and greater than 600 publications.  Dr. Mont is a member of the Knee Society and Hip Society and is on the editorial board of many orthopaedic journals, including being an Associate Editor for the Journal of Arthroplasty.

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

The PA came into the exam room, and had a couple of opinions (plate looked loose, and possible infection, but both were denied by the physician. They did order blood work as a follow up.

very impressed w everyone and everything at hospital. dr mont could listen better. felt a bit rushed w him but not terrible. I know he's a good surgeon, that's why I drove 3 1/2 hrs to see him. may have been an off day but his bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired. that said he's still performing my surgery!

This was a one-shot consultation...the second I have received. Dr. Mont was polite and answered all my questions. He offered to write a script for therapy which was his recommendation and to see me again if issue not resolved through therapy.
