Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/7/2017, Dr. Bergman has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Bergman is terrific. He listens and understands and takes time to explain things.

Dr Bergman is brilliant. I am so grateful he is at the cleveland clinic. please do not chase him away like you have so many of the other functional medicine doctors. don't give them too many patients a day that they become overwhelmed. This kind of medicine is different and the doctors need time to meet with patients. They need time to think and problem solve. He has discovered things that have helped my family that no other traditional doctors have ever thought of. It is obvious that he is a reader and continuous learner and my family is changed forever because of his desire to find answers. Thank you!!!

I waited 45 minutes in the exam room with no update from any staff member. Dr. Bergman did apologize for my long wait when he arrived in the room.

It is very difficult to get an appt with Dr. Bergman.
Reviewed on Jun 4, 2018
Dr was late coming into room. The appt seemed rushed and I didn't feel as though we had enough time to ask questions.

It has typically been difficult to make appointments--generally need to do so well in advance. A new format with physicians assistants may change that. I do seem to get more frequent notices of availability now.

When he got in the dr. apologized and explained that he had a patient with a complicated medical problem.

Dr Bergman takes whatever time is necessary to be sure patients are completely satisfied they have been heard; I appreciate this approach, so I am happy to wait for his arrival to the exam room.

Waited over an hour to see the doctor. Timely appointments not available even when having ongoing issues which need more immediate attention. Not enough Functional doctors available!!!

Virtually no waiting and Dr. Bergman spent a lot of time with me.
Reviewed on Mar 26, 2018
While I did wait in the exam room, I did not mind since Dr. Bergman took such care and time with me when I started at Functional Medicine. I believe that my first appt. most likely a patient had to wait while he took such care with me, so I did not mind at all since that initial intake is so very vital to getting information correct the first time since it is the cornerstone of future care.

I love Dr. Bergman. Not only has he helped me to get off of a medication for a chronic condition, but he is helping me prevent another condition. He always explains everything completely, and he is so respectful of my veganism when recommending supplements. He researches which supplements are the best for me and provides research results and his opinions on everything we think about trying. I've never felt better!

Dr. Bergman always engages in dialogue regarding treatment recommendations and encourages me to make decisions based on information he shares. Mine has been an interesting journey of "peeling the onion" and he intuitively knows where to go next. He's the best doctor I've ever had (and I'm 49)!
