Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

I was blown away by how wonderful my experience with Dr. Donohoe was. Our pediatrician is a UH doctor, so we have always used UH doctors. Then my son got hurt, so I took him to Hillcrest Pediatric ER (because in my opinion they are the best!). So, they gave me the name of a Cleveland Clinic doctor for follow-up. I was unable to see that doctor unless I waited a few weeks or drove >1 hour to a different office. So, they offered an appointment with Dr. Donohoe. I took the appointment, but was unsure and considered finding a UH doctor instead. I read up on Dr. Donohoe online and saw nothing but great reviews, so I kept the appointment. It was also WONDERFUL that he was able to see us next day. Dr. Donohoe was fantastic. I am extremely glad I chose to see him. He took his time to find out exactly what had happened with my son's injury, he walked us through the ultrasound results, showing us the pictures, so we could understand his diagnosis. He questioned my son in a manner that he would understand, cracking jokes and keeping him at ease while examining him. He talked to both of us (not just me) to make sure we understood the problem, next steps, etc. For the follow-up appointment, he had me call his assistant directly to get us in on a specific date (even though he was in surgery all day) because my son's condition was important to him and he wanted to be sure that he was seen. The assistant had already talked to Dr. Donohoe when I called him and already had us in the book. This was so nice instead of having to sit on hold for 30 minutes to talk to an appointment line only to be told there aren't any appointments, which has been my experience when needing to see a specialist in the past. The care we received was awesome and I could not be happier with our choice to see Dr. Donohoe. I will be recommending him to everyone.
