Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 11/14/2018, Dr. El-Hayek has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr El-Hyak is a great doctor.

I was at another clinic and Dr El Hayek squeezed me into his schedule same day so I wouldn't have to drive to Cleveland for a consultation when I live far away

Reviewed on Jan 25, 2019

Dr El Hayek was the first surgeon I've seen for my issue who wanted to do more testing to confirm my diagnosis instead of jumping right into a potentially unnecessary surgery. I have a lot of respect for that

*Dr. El-Hayek was great w/ answering my questions during visit, but I later found out that there were certain things he did not inform me about (potential of intense shoulder pain in days after procedure, diet-related things, etc.).

Reviewed on Nov 27, 2018

I came to see Dr. El-Hayak for a specific condition and he answered all my questions and gave me all the needed information to make my decision about surgery. I would recommend him.

doctor is one of the best providers I have ever had

Dr Kevin El'Hayek was very nice for my first meeting

Reviewed on Nov 2, 2018

The purpose of the appointment was introductory and assessment of my readiness for surgery. Dr. El-Hayek was friendly, personable, easy to talk to, and very informative. My wife and I liked him a lot, and we felt very comfortable and confident in his care. He will be performing "hipek" chemotherapy during my upcoming surgery in February.

this was the first time to meet this Doctor. My original Doctor has left CC, and I absolutely loved her. She is hard to follow. I liked him at this visit and know I will grow to like him more as my appointments with him become more frequent.

The physician & his residents seemed to swoop in quickly, examine me, ask a few questions then swoop out again.
