About Fang Dong, Ph.D.

Dr. Dong is a staff diagnostic physicist and an associate professor of Radiology. Dr. Dong received his B.S. degree in physics from Fudan University in China, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Dong’s specialty is in the field of diagnostic ultrasound, CT image quality and radiation dosimetry. He has authored and co-authored 39 peer-reviewed articles, 3 book chapters, 17 patents and 85 national and international meeting abstracts/presentations. His clinical research projects include CT low contrast liver lesion detectability, dual energy CT and radiation dose reduction for CT arthroplasty imaging w/ iterative metal artifacts reduction.

As a staff physicist at a major academic medical center, Dr. Dong has great passion for training medical physics residents, imaging technologists and radiology residents.  His CT imaging physics lecture series was well received by the cardiac imaging fellows at Cleveland clinic’s Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institution. He currently serves as the director for American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM)’s Diagnostic Review Courses and Imaging Education Track.

Dr.  Dong is a fellow of AAPM, and full member of American College of Radiology (ACR), American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS).
