Overview

Overview

Although often considered a problem in adulthood, hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) can affect children and teens, especially where there is a genetic cause. The Pediatric Hyperlipidemia Clinic offers assessment and treatment of children and teens with elevated cholesterol, including initiation and management of medications where indicated. The clinic involves a registered dietician for consultation and advice. Referrals can also be made to pediatric-specific programs that focus on health, exercise and weight management, if needed.
