Introduction to Autism for Grandparents

Foundations of Applied Behavior Analysis

Description: This workshop provides an overview of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for those who have direct contact with a child diagnosed with autism. Participants will learn about symptoms and characteristics of autism, teaching principles of ABA, and troubleshooting ABA programming. A basic overview of the functions of behavior and behavior management tips will also be covered. Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Advanced Concepts in Applied Behavior Analysis

Description: This workshop is appropriate for professionals or those who have completed the Foundations in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) workshop. Designed to further knowledge of behavioral concepts and techniques, participants will learn about the functional assessment of behavior process, antecedent interventions, replacement behaviors, consequence interventions, data collection procedures and analysis, and ethical considerations. Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Paraprofessionals Workshop on Behavioral Techniques

Classroom Behavior Management

Description: The first workshop in this series will provide educators with an overview of effective classroom behavior management strategies to support learners with challenging behavior. Participants will learn about visual supports, token economies, level systems, and environmental and curricular modifications.


Antecedent Strategies: Being Proactive

Time: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Description: The second workshop introduces educators to specific antecedent strategies that can be implemented in educational settings to provide additional support for children who demonstrate challenging behavior. Participants will learn about the High-P procedure, non-contingent reinforcement, the Premack Principle and other behavioral antecedent strategies.


Executive Functioning Challenges in School

Date: Wednesday, October 18, 2017
Time: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Description: The last workshop introduces educators to specific challenges that learners with executive functioning difficulties face in academic settings. Participants will learn about the use of schedule systems, organizational strategies and other tools to facilitate success in the classroom.

    Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshops in order to be signed in at the front desk.
