Cleveland Clinic named pre-positioned site for COVID-19 vaccine
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has identified 10 sites across the state that will receive the pre-positioned COVID-19 vaccine after it has been given emergency-use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). One of those sites is Cleveland Clinic.
Each site was selected because of population, it had ultra-cold storage capability and the ability to quickly administer the vaccine. Details about vaccine distribution has not yet been determined, we have a multidisciplinary team in place that is working on the planning.
The vaccine will not be available until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices issues its recommendation on how to use the vaccine. Cleveland Clinic will be prepared to administer the vaccine per the CDC’s recommendations.
As we have more information, we will share it with all caregivers
