COVID-19 booster update: Recommended for all individuals 18 and older

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have amended the emergency use authorizations (EUA) for both the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines authorizing use of a single booster dose for all individuals 18 years of age and older after completion of primary vaccination with any FDA-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet to discuss further clinical recommendations.

Cleveland Clinic will begin offering Pfizer and Moderna booster doses to expanded populations in the coming weeks.

At this time, our COVID-19 vaccine compliance policy requirement does not include a booster or third doses of the vaccine. This is subject to change as guidelines for completing the vaccine series are updated.
