When coming to your first appointment:

If you have been referred for any bone metabolism conditions from the list on the disorders page make sure you bring to your appointment all your medication bottles, any available records, reports or films relevant to the condition. Try to collect and write down family medical history prior to the visit. It is good to fast for 12 hours before visit because your doctor may order some tests that require fasting.

When coming for densitometry scanning:

Procedures involving radioactive contrast administration are contraindicated if there is suspicion of pregnancy. A urine pregnancy test will be performed prior to administering such a contrast in all females that could be pregnant. There are no particular precautions after the test. And no need for fasting before scanning.
