How can you prevent large bowel obstruction?

  • It is difficult to prevent obstructions, but unusual symptoms should be evaluated, such as increasing difficulty passing stools, blood in your stools, increasing abdominal pain.
  • Get any unusual colon or rectal symptoms checked out (for example, constipation and abdominal pain).
  • Get screened for colon or rectal cancer regularly.
