Carla Q. Anderson, MSN, RN, CPN, is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Children’s. A certified pediatric nurse (CPN), Anderson has specialized in the care of the pediatric patient population since she started her career in 1982. She has worked at the following children’s hospitals throughout the Midwest, including The Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri, Saint Louis Children’s Hospital at Washington University Medical Center, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic Children’s.
Her career experience includes serving as a staff nurse, pulmonary care coordinator, nurse manager, and clinical nurse specialist in the areas of pediatric orthopedics and pediatric allergy/immunology. Currently, Anderson is the inpatient pediatric clinical nurse specialist at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, supporting the pediatric intensive care units and the pediatric cardiology unit through evidence-based nursing practice, quality improvement, education and research.

Clinical Practice & Teaching
Anderson’s clinical expertise lies within the area of pediatric nursing, currently focusing on pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology. Additional nursing expertise includes general pediatrics, pediatric orthopedics and pediatric allergies/immunology.
For three years, Anderson served as a staff member within the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s Educational Services for Nursing. In addition to facilitating nursing grand rounds, she was responsible for maintaining the hospital’s nursing continuing education providership through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Research & Publications
During her tenure with Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital as a CNS in pediatric orthopedics, Anderson co-authored a research article for Patient Education and Counseling, on a randomized trial of an intervention to prevent lawnmower injuries to children.
