Description
The study will conduct validation and assess the utility of the central neurological exam (EDSS, MSFC, 25-foot walk, 9-Hole Peg test, and visual contrast sensitivity test) and undergo an MRI. The study visit will take approximately 2 hours. Participants will receive a parking voucher after their visit is completed.
Inclusion Criteria
- Age 18 to 65 inclusive
- Referral to the academic site for a new clinical or radiological suspicion of multiple sclerosis
- Not on disease modifying therapy for multiple sclerosis
- Cranial MRI scan demonstrating T2-hyperintensities
- Able to provide writen informed consent to participate in the study
Exclusion Criteria
- Contraindication to MRI studies, metal or metal implants incompatible with MRI
- Not be able to tolerate MRI due to claustrophobia or excessive movement related to tremor
- Contraindication to use of gadolinium contraining contrasts agents (allergy or renal failure)
- Treatment with systemic corticosteroids in the 4 weeks preceding enrollment
