Universal Sisters Draws 1,200 Women for Health and Wellness Information and Screenings
Cleveland Clinic, Huron and South Point Hospitals hosted the Sixth Annual "Universal Sisters: Celebrating Health and Soul" event on Saturday, Aug. 15 to a sold-out crowd at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland.
This year, 1,200 women learned the tools to live a healthy lifestyle, talked with experts, learned about their health status with over 20 different screenings, and attended educational breakout sessions on topics ranging from heart disease, diabetes, nutrition, and stress management. In fact, more than 500 women underwent bone density screenings – showing their risk for osteoporosis, as well as health heart screenings (a combination of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose measurements).
“Every year I see women walk away truly empowered from this educational day,” said Dr. Linda Bradley, MD, Vice-Chair, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health Institute. “I consistently run into so many women who were inspired by this event to focus on their health. Universal Sisters is changing lives one woman at a time.”
The event was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland and featured a performance by the Shaw High School Band, keynote speeches by Dr. Pamela Lynne Redden and Daisy Alford-Smith, PhD, and a musical send-off from the Inspirational Voices of Peace gospel choir.
The Universal Sisters event is produced by Cleveland Clinic, Huron and South Pointe Hospitals. It is co-chaired by Linda D. Bradley, MD; Modish J. Lane, MD; and Pamela Lynne Redden, MD.
