The Department of Vascular Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic is dedicated to research to improve the care of, and eventually the cure for, vascular diseases. The commitment to research is evident in the vast array of studies ongoing in the areas of both basic and clinical research.
Basic Research: Laboratory research related to improving the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.
Clinical Research: Research that tests how well new medical treatments such as drugs and devices or other interventions work in the human population to treat or prevent vascular diseases.
Critical Leg Ischemia: The Department of Vascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation is looking for patients that are experiencing symptoms related to severe peripheral arterial disease. Patients that have pain or cramping anywhere in their leg or foot at rest and have wounds (ulcers) present on their legs or feet may be eligible for participation in a research study. The study will evaluate a drug designed to promote new artery growth to determine if circulation in the effected limb can improved.
