What’s motivating Cleveland radio talk show host Tiffany "Chunk" to quit smoking? She wants to feel better. Chunk has tried to quit many times on her own and finally realized that to do it successfully she needed help.
Tiffany “Chunk”
WNCX Cleveland Radio Personality
28 years old, Started smoking in her teens
Quit date: July 13, 2009
Here are some eye-opening facts she learned at her first appointment with Iyaad Hasan, Medical Director, Cleveland Clinic Tobacco Treatment Center:
- Her lungs are already 38 years old, even though she is only 28.
- Her body’s carbon monoxide level is almost three times higher than the normal level.
- Now she knows what’s really inside the cigarettes she smokes like cyanide.
There is good news. Hasan has created a customized, quitting plan just for Chunk, including follow up appointments, friendly phone calls and tips, behavioral therapy, relapse prevention and stress management.
Right now Chunk is taking the first step to becoming smoke-free. She’s decided to quit without the help of medication, so she is focusing on changing behaviors that may lead to smoking. Hasan will be following up with phone calls to check on her progress.
